The evening was originally intended to be a few old guys getting together for a chat and maybe a strum, but it has grown out of all proportion.

We do not have acts as such – it just depends who turns up on the night.. Almost all of the performers you see in the video clips on YouTube have long since retired, but we are now being increasingly “pestered” (in the nicest possible way) by young entertainers. They are happy to sing Sixties material just to be part of the show, and we are happy to form ourselves into scratch bands just to back them. One of the guys has a Roland synth guitar, and he seems able to busk to anything and capable of providing any instrument from a piano to a full string, brass or woodwind section.

And everyone gets paid the same – NOWT

I have even had an email from Brazil from a guy wanting to come and play. Over the last few months we have had visitors from the USA, Spain, Italy and Australia – in addition to home grown talent from London, Birmingham, Scotland, Yorkshire –  and they all seemed to love it. We are absolutely gobsmacked.

I guess it is all down to a nucleus of a dozen or so enthusiasts who are happy to put the effort in to attract the other performers and make sure that it is an enjoyable experience.
